Material verification

Verified before the first cut

A wrong heat discovered after machining wastes weeks. Every lot is checked against its certificate before it reaches a machine, and traceability is kept to the finished part.

  1. Certificate review

Mill certificate checked against the drawing grade, standard and heat-treatment condition.

  2. Chemical analysis

Composition confirmed by direct-reading OES, with ICP-AES or C/S and O/N/H analysis where specified.

  3. Mechanical testing

Tensile, impact and hardness tests on test bars or coupons when required.

  4. Soundness

UT on forgings and thick plate, MT on critical surfaces of castings.

  5. Traceability

Heat number transferred to each part and recorded on the final inspection report.

Materials FAQ

Questions about materials

Need a grade that is not listed? Ask us; we source most international grades.

Ask about a material
Can you source materials to ASTM, EN or JIS standards?

Yes. We purchase plate, bar, forgings and castings to GB, ASTM/AISI, EN/DIN and JIS standards from domestic and imported mills, and cross-reference equivalent grades during drawing review when your specification allows it.

Do you supply EN 10204 3.1 material certificates?

Yes. Mill certificates are supplied with every order, and EN 10204 3.1 certificates are provided on request, with heat numbers traceable to each finished part.

Which material do you recommend for seawater pump parts?

Duplex 2205 and super duplex 2507 are the most common choices for seawater pump casings and impellers because of their resistance to pitting and chloride stress corrosion. Titanium Grade 2 is used where the highest corrosion resistance is required.

Do you accept customer-supplied (free-issue) material?

Yes. We machine your own forgings, castings and bar. Incoming material is inspected and recorded, and chemical verification can be added before machining starts.

Which titanium grades do you supply?

Titanium Grade 1, 2, 5 (Ti-6Al-4V), 7, 12, 16 and 23, as forgings to ASTM B381 (F1, F2, F5, F7, F12, F16), bar to ASTM B348, plate to ASTM B265 and pipe to ASTM B861/B862.

Can you supply parts to AMS aerospace specifications?

Yes. We source and machine to AMS specifications including AMS 6348, 6370, 6409, 6414, 6415 and 6484 (4130 and 4340 steels), AMS 5639, 5647, 5648, 5653, 5643, 5659 and 5731 (stainless and A-286), and AMS 5665, 5666, 5662, 5754 and 5772 (nickel and cobalt alloys), with full material certification.

Which copper-nickel and bronze grades do you machine?

90/10 copper-nickel C70600 and C70620, 70/30 copper-nickel C71500 and C71520, C72200, nickel aluminium bronze C63000 and C63200, aluminium bronze C61300 and C61400, admiralty brass C44300, C44400 and C44500, naval brass C46400 and C46500, and Muntz metal C36500.

Can you machine engineering plastics?

Yes. We machine nylon (PA6 and PA66), POM, PEEK, UHMW-PE and PTFE for racks, wear strips, bushings and insulators.
